Memorising Juz' 'Amma: A 30-Day Plan for Beginners

4 August 20262 min read

The last Juz' is the best place to begin Hifz. Here is a practical 30-day schedule with revision built in, plus how to keep what you memorise for life.

The last Juz' — Juz' 'Amma — contains the surahs you already hear in every prayer. That familiarity makes it the ideal first target for anyone new to memorisation.

Week 1: the short surahs An-Nas to Al-Qadr. Two or three short surahs a day, recited in your prayers the same day. Praying with what you memorise is the strongest revision there is.

Week 2: medium surahs Al-'Alaq through Ash-Shams. Slow down: five lines a day, plus a full recitation of week one.

Week 3: build stamina Al-Balad through An-Naba'. Longer surahs need line-by-line linking — recite the last line of the previous set before adding a new one.

Week 4: lock it in No new memorisation. Recite the whole Juz' daily, once with the Mus'haf and once from memory. This week is what makes it permanent.

Two rules that decide your success - Never memorise a line you have not first had corrected for Tajweed. - Never let a day pass without revision, even a single page.

Our Last Juz' Hifz with Tajweed Course guides beginners and busy learners through exactly this journey with a dedicated teacher, daily attendance tracking and a completion certificate. Students from any country are welcome.
